Scottish National Open Championships
Two of our pupils (James & Conan Kilpatrick) attended The Scottish National Open Championships 2026 representing Carnegie Swimming Club, the event was held in the Commonwealth Swimming Pool in Edinburgh between 26 - 28 June.
The Scottish Open is a prestige event and for some, is a culmination of many hard hours in the training pool, focusing on gaining qualification to earn a swimming place at the event. 91 Clubs were represented, predominately from Scotland, but numerous clubs attended from around the UK and Ireland with the furthest travelling club coming from Switzerland.
795 swimmers attended and participated in at least 3000 swims. The event also showcased some of the UK's top swimmers, in attendance were Duncan Scott, Tom Dean, James Guy, Freya Colbert, Angharad Evans, Keanna Macinnes and many other high-profile swimmers. This is the pinnacle calendar event for most Scottish Swimmers, who use this to consolidate their performance for the year, some elite swimmers use this as progression into The British Championships held in Sheffield in July.
Our pupils participated in the following events:

James competed in 200m Individual Medley, 50m & 200m Butterfly & 100m Backstroke, reaching a final in 200m backstroke, he will also be competing in the British Championships in July

Conan competed in 50m, 100m & 200m Backstroke & 200m Butterfly achieving a season's personal best time in each event.
Well done once again to James and Conan for their excellent performance in such events as always.
